Thank You to My FABULOUS Neighbors!

This is the snow that God sent:
swirling and whirling
falling and flying
down to the ground at my house.

This is the driveway, long and wide, that caught the snow floating out of the sky;
swirling and whirling
falling and flying
down to the ground at my house.

This is the drift, 6 feet deep, made by the snow plow that pushed the heap;
blocking the driveway, long and wide
that caught the snow floating out of the sky;
swirling and whirling
falling and flying
down to the ground at my house.

This is the shovel, lowly and small, put to the task of clearing it all:
the monstrous drift, 6 feet deep,
made by the snow plow that pushed the heap
blocking the driveway, long and wide
that caught the snow floating out of the sky;
swirling and whirling
falling and flying
down to the ground at my house.

I am the mommy, cold and wet, plowing and digging, but not done yet;
wielding the shovel, lowly and small, put to the task of clearing it all.
Oh, look at that drift, 6 feet deep, made by the snow plow pushing the heap.
It’s blocking the driveway, long and wide
that caught the snow floating out of the sky;
swirling and whirling
falling and flying
down to the ground at my house.

BUT, I have GREAT neighbors, good and true, bringing shovels and blowers to my rescue.
We worked, we three, and together made light
of the craziest, snowiest storm in sight,
as we wielded our shovels, lowly and small
clearing and pushing, but smiling through all.
Many hands do light work make.
Thanks for your help…you take the cake!

Thanks so much, Rachael and Amy!

Adri, your talent continues to floor me. When does it end? Is it fair that all that talent got put into one person? :)

And thank you for giving me another reason to love Texas.

okay remember that time when you said you wished you had lots of talents like your friend who does it all. Well.... my dear you are amazing and don't you forget it. As I thought that day, you do so much as well and in your own style.

You are so creative and have such a postive way of sharing life. I love to read your blog.
Thanks for your example.

Thank you all for your overly flattering words. I was just joking with my mom that I must have inherited her tendency to write silly poems, but we both wish we could write REAL poetry. :)

Mags---I think YOU should enter the contest...you really are a poet!

And, yes, we are 'California dreamin' on these VERY wintry days!

You are so clever! My neighbor (bless his heart) cleared my walk with his snowblower. I was so grateful, but I can't say it inspired me to poetry!

You're the best Adri...I tried to call you today, and I was so sad because it must have been your old number. I love your poem as well!!

love it! It does remind me of your mom. And of course, I wish I had that much snow here. EXCEPT, now I know why people have such huge stroller wheels here. We get stuck, they don't.
