the fashion world hates me.

In the year and a half since I was last pregnant, maternity clothes have taken a change for the "gypsy."
*Sleeves have gone fluttery (heaven help me).
*Shirts are supposed to hit you right below the bum (such an un-flattering place to land).
*Pants have tapered legs (this doesn't even look good when I'm skinny, let alone when I'm toting a baby bump).
*Nearly every top does this criss-cross thing across the chest, leaving LOTS of added room for that blossoming, pregnant bust line (of which, at week 23, I still have none).
*Dresses are, apparently, back in fashion. Except no one (I repeat, no one) can avoid looking like a campsite (read TENT) when wearing a dress over a prego belly.
*And skirts. Well, that's what I was really after. But, the mini is back (even in maternity...spare me), and well, I'm sure we all know why THAT won't work.

I spent all morning searching every store (with even a single maternity rack) in the mall. I didn't by anything.

Until I stopped at Borders on my way back to the car.
Books always save the day.

Sorry, Ade! I know what you mean. I felt so frumpy for months! I have some cute Lilac jeans you can borrow if you need more pants!

Can I have an amen to everything you just said! I've given up on maternity clothes! :)

I completely understand! The tapered pants are killing me. They are so ugly. I searched every single one of my favorite stores and found nothing. Then Ben convinced me to go to Ross and I actually found some adorable skirts with elastic waist bands. They have saved me!!!
Kohls also has some great clothes that I just get in extra large and they have worked perfectly for maternity shirts.
Downeast Outfitters also has great T-shirts that cover the belly and still give you some sort of figure.
Good luck my friend! You will look cute no matter what you wear.

You are an absolutely beautiful pregnant lady! Heck I look more pregnant then you. If you can't find clothes come look in my closet. I'll bet they fit!

I know what you mean! I tried to find a non black mini skirt - impossible!!! Trust me when I say that I don't know what you would have to wear to look like a tent!?! You are a very cute pregnant lady!

Fortunately you look cute in whatever you wear! Wish I could help, but the clothes I have would fall right off of you! :)

I have always liked the bookstore much more than the clothing store. I will take a good book anytime....

Hey when are you due?? I am due on August 30th, so I think we are around the same time.
I am trying to stay in my "normal" clothes for as long as possible. I have had no luck finding clothes either. Found some CUTE dresses, but were from London, and I could probably furnish my house with what I would have to spend.

I loved buying "normal" clothes in a larger size during Susannah pregnancy. The shirts are much longer now so they covered my belly, but fit well on top. Good luck!
