bad news

I wear braces.
It is embarrassing.

So, for the past 10 months I've avoided photos, big smiles and meeting new people. Okay, maybe not ENTIRELY, but for the most part.

It was extra embarrassing to be PREGNANT and brace-faced. It was.

Today I went to my {super great, despite my metal-mouth-ness} orthodontist only to find out that my treatment has been delayed due to my being 'unavailable for x-rays' for the past 9 months. Instead of a braces-free Thanksgiving, I'll be lucky to be un-metaled by Martin Luther King Day.

And, as icing on the cake, I'm now the {painfully} proud wearer of {extra EXTRA embarrassing} rubber bands.

Don't laugh. Please.
P.S. This is not me. I'm avoiding pictures, remember?

Adri, I wore braces (plus head gear!) for five years. I feel your pain. My sister used to call me "Gear-Head." Lovely. I think braces are a horrible torture devise, but sometimes a necessary evil. Good luck!

Growing up (have I told you this story?) my sister would always flick her brace-bands into my water cup. Everynight, I would drink my water, only to find my sisters bands hangin' out in the bottom of my cup.
So it could be worse, right?

Oh, I'm so sorry, Adri! I know you are SO ready to be de-braced. At least you could get some autumn-colored bands, to make Thanksgiving more festive. And just imagine where you could go with color themes for Christmas! :) Hang in there!

I think you should embrace it and get neon green rubber bands or something. If it makes you feel any better my Dad just got his braces off two years ago. Plus, I bet you get carded everywhere you go.

Oh - Adri! You are hillarious. I really do miss you.

I had braces when I was pregnant with Landon - even my own orthodontist teased me -seriously!

It'll be worth it!

You have a beautiful smile, with or without braces!

If it makes you feel any better, I've known several adults who had braces, but I seriously didn't notice they had them for quite a while. I bet people don't even notice. Because you are so cute, it doesn't matter! :)
